Notes on Colour: Green
Continuing with my colour series, I thought Iād start 2024 with my personal favourite; green! A colour that is restful, so easy to live with and actually compliments many other colours so has great versatility in interior design.
The Colour Green
Green sits in the middle of the colour spectrum; it is a restful colour that requires minimal adjustment of the eye to see it. There are many different tones of green; sage green, olive, mint green, emerald green to name a few, each bringing a very different characteristic and feeling to an interior. As always when choosing a colour for your home, first consider how you want the space to feel and that will help guide you to the best shade for your interior. Green is easily complemented in a room scheme by many other colours such as pinks, blues and oranges so you can have fun with colourful accessories if you want to liven up a space and add energy or tone it down for a more calm environment.
Psychology of Green
Green is the colour of nature and has strong associations with health and wellbeing. It is a calm soothing colour and gives reassurance; it is the colour of growth and life.
The wrong tone of green or being surrounded by too much can lead to feelings of boredom.
Featured Green
My personal preference is a soft muted green such as French Grey by Neptune as featured in the living room image. I like the understated vintage look of this dirty green grey tone and find it works beautifully in a garden room or an elegant bedroom that looks out onto the greenery outside.
